The University of Jammu has reconstituted the Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad for the academic year 2026-27 as per UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging 2009. The committee is headed by a senior professor and includes faculty representatives, student representatives, police officers, NGO representatives, and parents.
The UGC has mandated that all universities maintain an active anti-ragging helpline and online complaint portal. JU’s anti-ragging helpline is 1800-180-5522 (toll-free, 24×7). Online complaints can be filed at antiragging.in.
Anti-Ragging Measures at JU 2026-27:
• CCTV cameras installed at 200+ locations including hostels
• Night wardens and security guards at all hostels
• Mandatory anti-ragging undertaking by all students and parents
• Surprise checks by Anti-Ragging Squad in hostel common areas
• Strict zero-tolerance policy with immediate suspension of accused
Students who experience or witness any form of ragging are urged to immediately report to the nearest faculty member, the Dean of Student Welfare, or the anti-ragging helpline. Complaints will be treated with complete confidentiality.
All UG and PG students must fill and submit the anti-ragging affidavit (available on UGC website) signed by both student and parent/guardian at the time of admission. Failure to submit the affidavit will result in cancellation of admission.
