AI and Automation Editorial Policy

AI and Automation Editorial Policy

Published: September 2026

At JU News, we recognize the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies across digital journalism. We also recognize that technology must never supersede the foundational tenets of journalistic integrity, factual accuracy, and human accountability. This document delineates our official standards regarding AI and automation across our newsroom.

1. Our Core Policy: Human Accountability

Every article published on JU News is authored, verified, and approved by human journalists. We do not publish automated, autonomous, or unedited AI-generated text as news reporting.

2. Permitted Uses of AI as an Editorial Assistant

Our editorial team may utilize licensed AI software strictly as an assistive productivity tool in the following capacities:

  • Transcription and Translation: Converting recorded interviews, press conferences, and regional circulars into preliminary text drafts for journalist review.
  • Grammar and Language Enhancement: Assisting in stylistic polishing, syntax checking, and proofreading.
  • Semantic Structuring: Generating outline suggestions, table layouts, and summarization points from extensive public gazette documents.

3. Strict Prohibitions

Our newsroom strictly prohibits:

  • Autonomous Publishing: No software algorithm or automated script is permitted to draft and publish articles directly to our live website without human intervention.
  • Synthetic Mass Generation: We reject mass automated spinning, synthetic aggregation, or automated rewriting of competitor websites.
  • Fabricated Information (AI Hallucinations): Because AI models can hallucinate dates, names, cutoff figures, and regulatory terms, every single data point, telephone number, cutoff score, and official date must be confirmed against an official primary document before publication.
  • Synthetic Profile Manipulation: We never generate synthetic persona bylines, invented reviewer identities, or fabricated journalist profiles.

4. Reader Feedback on AI Standards

If you ever have questions or believe any segment of our coverage does not meet these standards, please contact our Editorial Standards Editor at [email protected].
