Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has significantly expanded its 4G network coverage in Jammu and Kashmir as part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ telecom mission. BSNL’s 4G, powered by domestically developed TCS-designed equipment, now covers over 2,800 villages across J&K that previously had no mobile internet access.
In Jammu district, BSNL 4G is now available in areas including Akhnoor, Bishnah, Samba, Vijaypur, RS Pura, Arnia, Khour, and several Gujjar-Bakarwal rehabilitation areas. In Kashmir, coverage has expanded to include parts of Gurez, Kupwara, Keran, and Lolab valley.
Current BSNL 4G Coverage in J&K (Key Districts):
• Jammu: 89% area coverage
• Srinagar: 91% area coverage
• Baramulla: 74%
• Anantnag: 68%
• Doda: 52%
• Rajouri: 60%
• Poonch: 45%
BSNL’s 4G speeds in urban areas like Jammu city and Srinagar are averaging 18-25 Mbps download and 8-12 Mbps upload. Rural areas average 6-12 Mbps which is sufficient for video calls, online classes, and e-government services.
