The University of Jammu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu for collaborative research, faculty exchange, and student internship programs. The MoU was signed at a ceremony attended by the Vice-Chancellors of both institutions.
Under the MoU, students from JU can apply for semester exchange at IIT Jammu’s science and technology departments, and IIT Jammu students can opt for courses in humanities, social sciences, and law at JU. Credits earned will be mutually recognized.
Joint research proposals in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Environmental Science, Materials Science, and Biotechnology will be submitted to funding agencies including DST and SERB under a collaborative grant application system.
JU faculty can also use IIT Jammu’s specialized research facilities including the Central Research Facility (CRF) which houses advanced instruments like XRD, SEM, NMR, and Mass Spectrometry, for collaborative research projects.
The MoU is for an initial period of 5 years and is renewable. Both institutions will form a joint committee to review the collaboration annually and propose new areas of cooperation based on emerging research needs.
