The J&K Government’s Mission Youth programme has been expanded in 2026 with a total budget of ₹2,200 crore targeting employment generation, skill development, and self-employment for 5 lakh youth in the union territory over the next 3 years.
Key Mission Youth Schemes 2026:
• TEJASWI (Technical Education for J&K youth): Free ITI and polytechnic courses with stipend of ₹3,000/month
• MUMKIN (Market-Linked Skill Initiative): Placement-linked skill training by industry partners
• Hausla (Entrepreneurship Support): ₹5 lakh seed funding for youth-led startups
• Watan Ko Jano: Summer internships in government offices for college students
Under the MUMKIN scheme, over 120 companies including L&T, Infosys BPM, Wipro BPS, and Tata Motors have partnered to provide 3-6 month training with guaranteed placement. Enrolled candidates receive ₹2,500/month stipend during training.
J&K youth aged 18-35 can register for any Mission Youth scheme at the online portal missionyouth.jk.gov.in. District Employment and Counselling Centres (DECC) across J&K assist with registration and scheme selection.
Over 1.8 lakh youth have benefited from Mission Youth schemes in 2024-25. The scheme has also seen a 23% reduction in youth unemployment in J&K over the past 2 years, according to CMIE data.
