Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, the Union Government has sanctioned ₹4,200 crore for construction of affordable housing units in Jammu and Kashmir. This is the largest housing grant received by J&K under any central scheme.
The funds will be used to construct 45,000 affordable housing units across J&K in the next 4 years. Priority will be given to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Lower Income Group (LIG) families who are currently living in rented accommodation or slum areas.
Benefits under PMAY-U 2.0 for J&K:
• EWS category: Subsidy up to ₹2.5 lakh on home loan
• LIG category: Subsidy up to ₹1.5 lakh on home loan
• Direct allotment of housing units in government-built complexes
• Rentable housing for migrant workers and students
Eligible beneficiaries can apply through the official PMAY portal at pmaymis.gov.in or through the District Urban Development Authority (DUDA) offices in Jammu and Srinagar.
