The University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Wildlife Institute of India and TERI, will host the 5th International Conference on Himalayan Ecology and Climate Change from October 28-30, 2026. Researchers from 22 countries are expected to participate in this prestigious scientific event.
The conference will focus on five key themes: Glacier retreat and water security, Biodiversity conservation in the Western Himalayas, Carbon sequestration in mountain ecosystems, Traditional ecological knowledge (TEK), and Climate-smart agriculture in mountain regions.
Over 350 research papers have been received for presentation. Key speakers include Dr. R.K. Pachauri Memorial Lecture by Prof. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, and keynote by UNESCO representative on Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions.
Student Participation Opportunity: JU doctoral students can present their research posters at the conference free of charge. Student registration for poster presentation closes October 10. The best student poster will receive a ₹25,000 prize from the DST.
