Since its inception in 1969, the University of Jammu has grown and developed to become one of Indiaís prestigious universities with its commitment and focus on its core functions of teaching, research, publication, examination and extension.

We also have seven functional off site campuses located at Bhaderwah, Kathua, Reasi, Ramnagar, Udhampur , Kishtwar and Poonch, that offer programmes to meet the demand and aspirations of the people living in those regions.

The hallmark of any academic excellence is the highest standards of teaching, research and an environment and culture conducive to learning. It is heartening to inform you that the University of Jammu is making rapid strides in all areas of its functioning. We have made several new beginnings and taken many important initiatives. We are redesigning our academic programmes through introduction of Choice based Credit system, semester system and other examination and administrative reforms. We endeavour to introduce new job oriented programmes that are in sync with emerging national and global trends as well as relevant to the regional and local needs. Providing world class facilities, encouraging sports and extracurricular activities for the holistic development of the students is something that we encourage at the University of Jammu.

As an institution of higher education, we understand our responsibility of increasing access, promoting equity and ensuring quality and excellence.
